Sedation Techniques

We have three options for you to pick from.

Are you ...

  • Anxious about dental treatment?
  • Suffering from a gag reflex?
  • Having trouble achieving local anaesthetic?
  • Afraid of needles in the mouth?
  • Do you struggle to open your mouth for long periods of time?

Then Dental Sedation could be for you.

Speak to your dentist for more information.

What Is Sedation Dentistry?

Dental Sedation is a safe alternative to general anaesthesia. It is a form of anxiety control which makes treatment more pleasant and manageable. Most patients can remember little or nothing of the procedure.

Which Sedation Techniques Do We Use?

At Cudworth Dental Surgery we use three types of conscious sedation techniques. Intravenous sedation, inhalation sedation and oral sedation. The type of sedation we use for each patient can differ depending on their suitability. This can vary with age, medical history and how well we feel the patient would cope with dental treatment.

What Happens At My Sedation Consultation

At your consultation we will carry out a dental examination and a physical assessment, including taking your blood pressure, pulse, height and weight. This will determine whether you are suitable for treatment under sedation. We can then answer any questions you may have about your treatment and schedule an appointment.
